Chapter 7

Memories

“Hey Aby, where have you been?” Tink's voice rang out faster than her glow appeared in the dark. “I went out for a moment and couldn't sense you for the entire day.” She fluttered in front of his face asking with a worried and curious expression “Nothing much just went home to deal with some things.” He replied as he sat on the edge of the rooftop and stared into the distance “We don't have homes so.... Oh wait, you mean you went to that place?” Tink was rolling her eyes when suddenly she snapped to attention as she recalled something “Yeah.” Aby nodded “No wonder you smell of blood and death” Tink wrinkled her nose and Aby chuckled “I brought something back.” He said waving his hand and a small vial appeared in his palm “What's that?” Tink asked curiously as she eyed the vial closely “It's called 'The Dark' the strongest substance you can find in the abyss and one of the strongest in the world at large.” He explained with a smile “How coincidental, I also found some alcohol, quite strong, they said it's enough to knock out a dragon.” “Oh, let me see” “Well I couldn't bring it here on my own so I hired a mail spirit.” “You don't have money Tink.” “What do you think, I'm very resourceful.” Tink clapped her hands and whistled in a certain sequence and the next moment an apparition materialised, dropped a bottle slightly bigger than Tink then vanished. “How about we make a cocktail?” Aby suggested and before Tink could reply he opened his vial and emptied the content into the bottle that was just delivered, he shook the contents properly before pouring a small quantity into the cover which he gave to Tink while he drank from the bottle. One sip and he could already see the stars swimming as colours started to come alive, “Tink do you think the stars are alive?” He suddenly asked “Nope they're just dead rocks, pieces of jewels to adorn the canvas of night” Tink replied “~heh, those damn celestials think they can fool us by lying that they come from the stars. One day I'll go up there and smash a few.” “Yay, sounds fun, can I tag along?” “If you're not scared of dying then feel free.” “I'm not scared, afterall you'll protect me.” “Nope, I'll do no such thing.” “You're such a kill joy.” “Remember when we came here for a date?” “Yep, with you looking all nervous and stuff.” “I was never nervous, I am never nervous.” Aby snapped before taking another sip from his bottle “Tsk, I still remember clearly how you chose to arrange those flowers by hand rather than using magic, how cute watching you align each petal with so much focus.” Tink giggled “You were supposed to be on the other side of town, I just wanted to pass time.” “Good thing I turned back halfway, otherwise I'd never have seen cute Aby destressing in such a fabulous way.” She teased and Aby clicked his tongue “I really should have crushed you when I had the chance last time.” “You actually dare bring that up, you think I can't beat you up?” “Hey, at least I left the portal open for you, it could have been worse, you know like you having to fly back here across half the world.” “I swear, I knew not letting that cat eat you was going to be the worst decision in my life.” “Ayyy.... I told you never to mention that day again” “What are you going to do about it, tell your mommy.” “I also told you not to talk about her.” “To think the great Abyssal demon immortal would be afraid of a woman.” “She's a nightmare, literally.” “Whatever, refills please.” “Be careful with you drink, dark is very strong, it skips all the process and knocks you out blank if you take too much at once” “I don't care, all I'm doing is enjoying a drink with my cute little Aby.” Tink threw her hands in the air triumphantly “You're probably the only mortal I know who would say such thing freely” Aby chuckled, ‘And live to tell the tale.’ He added internally He swirled the bottle slowly before taking another sip, his mind flashed from when Tink pinned him down trying to take advantage of him, to Tink walking in on him killing a man by dismantling all his parts, had to give Tink therapy for a month before she returned to normal. “Tink remember that time you were kidnapped by a goblin?” Aby suddenly asked with a small smile “~eh...” Tink suddenly pauses mid drink before suddenly screaming, her hand flailing tossing her drink wide as she trashed about while reliving a terrible memory “It was fun.” Aby chuckled, fully ignoring the bite sized beauty having a meltdown beside him “You big baddie.” Tink flew and started pulling Aby's hair in different directions but the demon in question didn't even budge “You know Tink, one day everything will fade away, memories are the things that will last the longest, and yet even they would vanish like a bubble in a dream it foam at sea.” “What about you, aren't you an immortal.” “Yes, I'm an immortal but that's only when comparing to mortals like you, against the cruel and unfeeling universe, I'm just a slightly bigger ant incapable of doing anything to change the grand scheme of things.” “Drink please.” Tink turned sombre as she sat in Aby's head. With a thought a small portion floated out of his bottle and landed in her 'cup' “The myriad worlds would begin to crumble, the stars would slowly wink out and the universe would die, this is the fate predestined from the very start of time and not even I can change it.” “If you can't change it then why worry about it” “No one worries about death more than an immortal.” “That's stupid.” “The irony is, the shorter your life span, the more time you have to do things.” “Aby you're getting drunk already.” “You'll understand when you grow older Bell, things are not what they seem. The truth you know and the reality you believe may not always align.” “And the truth is not always true. I know, you've said it a million times already.” Tink snapped dramatically “Oh, have I?” Aby said before downing everything that was left in the bottle “Goodnight Tink.” He whispered while falling backwards causing Tink to yelp .............
