Chapter 14

Gamma

Chapter 14: Gamma

The sun was at its peak and the students were on active raid, recon and survival modes.

While the polar opposites took refuge in the trees to avoid persistent attacks from the mobs while Frey was still resting, another unlikely team could be seen working together for their individual survival.

Meanwhile, not so far away…

“Zoey ring out formation, 2 C rank earth golems. Zach academy defence, guard the king form. Execute.” No one would have thought Axel was the leading type, but when the goal was certain he was certain.

Twins Zach and Zoey Ashveil were assigned to the academy on the same day as Frey but they had specific orders not to intervene with him till he had made allies [which they thought would never happen in this life].

The twins were special, they had the same aura patterns, nothing else. Zach was an earth type and Zoey was a light type. Both were born into a family of fire users but weren’t treated any different.

“Axel this golem doesn’t have an enchanting base. Ringing out will be ineffective.” she yelled as she evaded a swing from the creature before her.

“In that case, follow through with fort dread.” he said as he and Zach charged the golems simultaneously.

Fort dread was a Starlight battle formation that needed any number of tanks and range specialists. It was effective against large numbers of enemies that showed no weakness. It was declassified and added to the academy’s regulation formation listing.

“Err boss? I think I found the enchantment base, but it looks incomplete.” Zach yelled out

“Same here. Change of plans, Zoey on my mark rain hell on them.”

She smiled as this would be the first time since leaving for the academy she would be allowed to display the extent of her power.

Axel then signaled Zach for both golems to be redirected into Zoey’s AOE.

“1”

“2”

“Now”

And with that the beasts were sent crashing towards each other, breaking apart. Before they could begin reassembling, Zoey constructed a bow made of light that glowed with a dark red hue, and held an arrow with the same aura pattern as a purified flame.

“DAWN BREAKER: Ignition shot”  in that moment her arrow vanishes leaving behind a golden-orange spark on her fingers. As she lets go the air around the shot distorts as it hits both golems. They light up but try to fight the heat as their individual parts break apart.

“CINDER” with a final command the very magical enchantment keeping them together burns until only ash can be found where they once stood.

“Good job, time to continue our search.” Axel said as he glanced at Zach who was in awe at his sister’s control of the fire element.

“Don’t do that, it’s only a watered down version of Aunty Sera’s Rising Dawn. still looks good don’t you think cap?” she said only to be ignored by the worried Axel.

Getting separated wasn’t what troubled him, it was the fact that Frey had enemies that would do anything to see him choke on his own blood. Not just Tharion but a majority of House Frostfire.

“Zach can you still sense them?” he asked as they gained momentum.

“Nothing. Either they are not on solid land, under a concealment of some kind or—”

“They won’t go without a fight, lets keep moving” Axel didn’t want to think about the possibility that they were eliminated.

—----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“I see, good to know i didn’t hurt you”

“You might be strong but don’t flatter yourself dude”

Frey had regained his consciousness and was getting a debrief from Zephirine while Amanda was getting rid of the last traces of the toxins.

“Rampaged for 5 hours, gained more points, knocked out for 2, I'm still leading? I’ll take it. How about Axel, any link to him?”

Frey wasn’t bothered by his rampage as long as his friends weren’t harmed, but he avoided talking about what he saw while he was hallucinating.

“The island is messing with tracking spells ranked C and below. Unless he has an earth/nature Elite or higher with him, we might not find each other anytime soon.” Amanda added.

“But he is an earth affinity user right? “

“Yeah but that's his base, he’s currently a metal main” Zephirine stated.

An affinity and its powers are determined by one’s main element. Base elements are the original affinity and the backbone of everything. A main is the dominant element in the user, it can be any of the original 5 or a fusion variant.

This is only applicable to users born to mixed parents. Fire + Earth parents, earth has been discovered to have an override of 75% so earth base and possibilities for combos.

“That’s why you’re the only one that reads that stuff Zephy.” Frey said as he got up to stretch.

“We might have divine powers but biology is going to be  biology. Well this only applies to pure blooded humans. Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Fairies and a lot of others have a single affinity bloodline.” she stated

“I heard it's a taboo for an elf to marry outside their affinity” Amanda said as she looked at the wave of D rank plant trolls that gathered beneath them.

“Damn, anyway who’s ready to get their blood pumping?” His grin was bright but his flames were brighter as he dived head first into the creatures.

“BLAZING CYCLONE: First Wave” waves of flames scattered with him at the very eye of a burning storm. From an aerial view it was an absolute masterpiece, yellow and red blending into each other as his flaming blade cut and eviscerated the creatures with minimal effort.

From the view of the trolls it was absolute hell, the heat was hindering their connection to the forest and the slashes were precise, beheading anyone within range of the raging fire tornado.

“I sense a golem a few hundred meters from here, it’s big and ... .enchanting?” she could feel immense power from a beast that was miles away but why?

“No… that’s a curse. Guess it’s attracted to Frey’s aura.” Amanda was trained to identify and dispel curses and the likes of, they had a fighting chance.

“Who isn’t, look at him, a walking trouble magnet”

“Or as the church calls him…..chaos personified”
