Chapter 3

Troublesome Date

The air was still as though by design rather than by nature. The night was illuminated softly by ambient lights not of the moon or stars, but by candlelights which floated magically in the air lightly bobbing up and down like canoe on the sea. On the floor in the shape of three concentric hearts are petals of exotic flowers of different kinds arranged with meticulous care and detailed attention such that every petal is symmetrically aligned. At the epicenter is a chair and a table, atop the table is a miniature chair and table. Aby sitting on the larger chair stared into the city in the distance, filled with night lights as people rushed to get home from work. It was a blur or hustle and bustle, "Hey, you're distracted again. This is the seventh time in ten minutes.” Tink shouted, her tiny voice barely above a buzzing whisper only sharper and crispier. “You pay a strange attention to unnecessary details Bell, it's... Adorable.” Aby said focusing his gaze on Tink who folded her arms across her chest. “And you lack attention at crucial moments.”. She retorted “I heard everything you were saying.” Aby defended himself as he raised a fork of braised meat into his mouth “Hearing is not the same as paying attention, you can hear what's going on in the other half of the city because you don't have much of a choice.” Tink ranted before flying off angrily “Oh please Tink, stop being dramatic.” Aby rolled his eyes “Oh, you think I'm being dramatic.” Tink suddenly turned around and yelled at him “I'll show you what dramatic looks like.” She grumbled before pointing at the glass of wine. A ray of light beamed from her finger to the glass and it levitated before emptying it's crimson content on Any. “~sigh... Are you satisfied now?” Aby asked as he slowly undid his top botton to ease the discomfort of being doused. “Absolutely not, you ruined this date with your bad attitude, now I'm really pissed” Tink screamed before pointing at Aby sending a beam of light at him, and the next instant his shirt tightened and then began to shrink before ripping to ribbons exposing his bare top. Lithe yet well defined, as though carved from the finest of jade. “If you wanted to see my naked body, you should have just asked.” Aby said with a sly smile, Tink blushed before turning away with a harrumph. Aby rose from his seat and carefully moved towards the edge of the rooftop before gently sitting down letting his legs dangle freely as he observed the vista. A moment later Tink arrives with a tiara of flowers which she placed on his head before sitting on his shoulder and leaning against his neck. “You know, that garden owner has relocated, and I'm almost running out of flowers.” Tink complained in a soft voice “He was forced to leave after fighting half the neighborhood over his flowers that got stolen.” Aby replied in an equally soft voice “Too bad the new owner sucks at caring for flowers.” “You're not any good yourself.” “Hello, I'm a pixie not a butterfly fairy.” “I put in so much effort into preparing this date though.” Aby gave a resigned sigh “It was my idea to begin with.” Tink clicked her tongue “I have no idea why I indulged your folly.” “Because you can't resist my charms” “Oh please, you never cease to amaze me with your antics, I'd be disappointed if the date ended well too.” “So you ruined it on purpose.” Tink exclaimed in false outrage “That's totally on you, not me.” Aby defended “Whatever, I like it better this way.” Tink took in a deep breath and gave off a satisfied sigh and she tried to snuggle up with Aby who just smiled. “You're the only creature who never bores me, a tiny piece of trouble.” he muttered to himself
